With data transfer rates of up to 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz frequency and up to 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz frequency, bandwidth hogging tasks such as streaming HD content, online gaming, and more can be allocated to the less congested, faster 5 GHz frequency. In addition to dual-band functionality, D-Link has incorporated Wireless AC beamforming technology into this router to provide a direct link to connected Wi-Fi enabled device. This direct signal ensures users receive a stronger, more reliable connection.
When looking at the DIR-879 you will see four external antennas that compliment the high-power amplifiers for powerful wireless connectivity. In addition to the wireless connection option, you can plug up to four Ethernet enabled devices to any of the four Gigabit Ethernet ports. Once configured, this D-Link router does the rest thanks to intelligent QoS (Quality of Service) technology which allocates the bandwidth to ensure each connected device operates smoothly. The network can also be secured using WPA and WPA2 encryption standards.
